Solar & heat control

The window is where the room loses.

Glass is the weakest thermal point in almost every building. In the afternoon it turns a west-facing room into the one nobody wants to sit in, and it makes the HVAC run against a load it was never sized for.

Also available

Three jobs the same glass can do.

Solar control is where most projects start. Depending on the building, film can also be specified for protection or for privacy.

Solar & heat control

The core line. Reduces heat gain, glare and UV on existing glazing — homes, offices, storefronts and common areas.

Safety & security

Thicker film that holds broken glass together instead of letting it fall as fragments — storm exposure, ground-floor glass, glass doors and partitions.

Privacy & decorative

Frosted, gradient and patterned film for conference rooms, bathrooms, entrances and storefront branding — privacy without losing light.

How a project runs

Four steps, no surprises.

01

Site visit

We look at the actual glass — orientation, glazing type, condition and how the space is used. Measurements taken on site, not estimated from a photo.

02

Film specification

We match the film to the problem you described and to the glass you have. Performance figures come from the manufacturer's data sheet for the film selected.

03

Written quote

Scope, film, areas and price in writing before anything is ordered. Pricing is per project, based on measured area and access.

04

Installation

Installed on your schedule, room by room or floor by floor, so the space stays usable. Cleaned and inspected before we leave.

Where it goes

Residential and commercial.

Homes

Living rooms and bedrooms that overheat in the afternoon, sunrooms, skylights, sliding doors, and any window putting sun directly on hardwood or furniture.

Offices & retail

Glass façades and storefronts, conference rooms, west-facing floors with a cooling complaint, display windows protecting merchandise from fading.

Straight answers · 13 questions

What building owners ask first.

How much does it cost?
Architectural film is quoted per project, not from a price list. The cost depends on measured area, film type, glass condition and access — a ground-floor storefront and a fourth-floor window wall are not the same job. We measure on site and put the number in writing before anything is ordered.
Will the room go dark?
No — that is the point of a solar control film rather than a blackout treatment. Films are selected to cut heat and UV while keeping the daylight and the view. We show you options before anything is applied.
Will it lower my energy bill?
It reduces the cooling load coming through the glass, which is usually where the afternoon problem starts. How much that shows up on a bill depends on your glazing, the orientation, the HVAC and how the space is used — so we will not quote you a percentage. What we can tell you is which rooms are losing the most and what the film will do to them.
Does film work on double-pane glass?
In most cases yes, but the film has to be matched to the glass. Applying the wrong film to certain insulated or tinted units can create thermal stress. That is why the site visit comes before the quote — we check what glass you actually have.
Does it make rooms colder in winter?
Solar control film is chosen for the climate, not just for summer. In a four-season building we specify accordingly, and we will tell you plainly if a given room is better left alone.
Inside or outside of the glass?
Almost always the interior surface — it protects the film and makes the install cleaner. Exterior film exists for specific cases where interior application is not possible, and it has a shorter service life.
How disruptive is the installation?
Low. We work on the interior surface of the existing glass, room by room. Furniture near the windows gets moved back and covered, and the area is cleaned before we leave. No glass is removed and no construction is involved.
Can you do skylights, curved or shaped glass?
Usually yes. Shaped and overhead glass takes longer and is priced accordingly. Bring it up on the site visit so it is in the quote and not a surprise later.
Can every window in a building be matched?
Yes, and for condos, HOAs and multi-unit buildings that usually matters more than anything else — mismatched panels are visible from the street. We specify one film across the scope so the façade reads as one surface.
Can it be removed later?
Yes. Film is removable and the glass underneath is unaffected when it is taken off properly.
How long does it last?
Architectural films are rated for years of service and carry a manufacturer warranty that varies by film and by whether the application is residential or commercial. We give you the specific warranty for the film selected, in writing, with the quote.
How do I clean it?
Ammonia-free cleaner and a soft cloth, same as any coated glass. Wait a few weeks after installation before the first clean so the film has fully cured.
Do you work with contractors and property managers?
Yes. Tell us the number of units or the square footage and the timeline you are working to, and we will quote the whole scope rather than one window at a time.
Start with a site visit

Tell us which room is the problem.

Most projects start with one complaint — a room too hot, a floor that is fading, a window someone can see through. That is enough to begin.
